President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Wednesday said frictions over Dawn leaks is not in the interest of the country.

Government and the Army should settle this issue amicably lest it hurt national interests and the economy which has improved after a long time, he said.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that masses should not try to get undue benefit of the situation as political disorder will be detrimental to the system and it will not improve image of the country on international level.

He said that all the stakeholders should exercise restraint to prevent catastrophic political confrontation which can cause ripples across the globe.

Conflict brewing between the civil and military leadership over the ‘Dawn leaks’ is very dangerous for the continuity of democracy in the country which is set to harm to economy, he added.

The business leader lashed out at some political parties that are using the opportunity to create chaos in the country by fanning the civil-military stand-off.

Stakeholders should try to improve the level of understanding between the Government and the Army before we see complete breakdown of trust, he noted.

He said that the issue of an Indian family friend calling on the prime minister is also being used to question the patriotism of PM Mr. Nawaz Sharif which is wrong.

The situation has triggered a media war with the commentators and TV anchors fighting it out on behalf of either side that is adding to the anxiety in the masses.

This expanding civil-military conflict is dangerous for the country that is facing security challenges therefore nothing should be allowed to further deteriorate civil-military relations lest it damages the national interests, he said.

All the stakeholders should realise the gravity of the situation before it is too late, he warned.May 03, 2017 UrduMay 03, 2017 EnglishBusiness RecorderSabah NewsPakistan ObserverJasaratJahan PakistanNawa e WaqtAusafBasharat
