President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), All Karachi Industrial Alliance (AKIA) Former Provincial Minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Wednesday welcomed nuclear deal between Iran and western power terming it good omen for the whole world.

It will have positive impact on the region and bilateral trade between two countries which is sliding since years, he said.

The deal has renewed hoped for materializing the gas import deal through peace pipeline which will reduce energy crunch and help Pakistan reap benefits of the trade relaxation offered by Europe, he said.

Speaking to the business community, Mian Zahid Hussain said that Pakistan should also initiate efforts to realize energy security by building dams.

Dams are seen as problem in Pakistan while rest of the world is in process of constructing thousands of dams. There are 23842 dams in China, 9265 in USA, 5102 in India and 3116 dams in Japan.

He said that Pakistan is the only country in the world where clean fuel is used to run power plants despite scarcity of natural gas; the power plants should be converted in LNG and coal.

He said that differences over construction of dams’ amounts to digging own grave therefore reservations of small provinces should be catered for to forge a consensus.

Struggle on ownership of resources between center and provinces has damaged the development plans, he observed.
