Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Wednesday welcomed the victory of a noted business leader in the general elections, terming it an excellent development.

He said Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig had secured victory in NA-241, which is encouraging as the business community will have a strong voice in the National Assembly. His achievement is the success of the entire business community.

According to Mian Zahid Hussain, Dr Baig is a successful businessman who can represent Karachi well, which is essential to resolving the problems facing the business community. Karachi is the foundation of the national economy.

Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that we are pinning high hopes on Dr. Baig and hope that the PPP leadership will give him an important role in the future setup, which will be according to the aspirations of the business community.

The business leader said that Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig is a leading industrialist with a vibrant career. He serves as Honorary Consul General Yeman, ha has advised the PM on textiles, and was Senior Vice President of FPCCI.

Moreover, he has remained active in diplomatic, social, philanthropic, and political domains over several decades and holds a good reputation.

Mian Zahid Hussain said Dr. Baig, winner of two civilian awards, greatly desires improvement; the business community will fully cooperate with him to resolve issues, serve the masses, and bring about positive change.

He noted that Dr. Baig could close the gap between the government and the private sector, benefiting both.

Businesspeople who become politicians can bring fresh energy into the public service as they come from an ecosystem driven by urgency to produce measurable results, and businesses that run without a sense of urgency to have quantifiable results fail.

Business people like to increase transparency and accountability in the system, and they can bring private sector networks that politicians are unlikely to have.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that most of the time, business people make better political administrators and know how to harness human capability.

Businesses thrive when leaders have a keen eye for talent and can foster an environment that encourages innovation and productivity.
