Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain said on Wednesday that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s visit to Afghanistan is very important for Pakistan.
The visit may result in warm relations, which will lead to increased trade and reduced terrorism, he said.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that the country is at a critical juncture, but some politicians are still trying to engineer disorder.
Speaking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s visit to neighbouring Afghanistan is timely and worthy of praise.
This move could improve relations between the two countries, which would result in increased trade and reduced tensions.
The Afghan Taliban’s assurance that they will not allow anyone to use Afghan soil for terrorism in Pakistan is a positive development.
He said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been warmly welcomed in Afghanistan, he is being given full protocol, and he has met with the Afghan Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and other important personalities.
It is expected that Maulana Fazlur Rahman will go to Kandahar and meet with the Emir of the Taliban to pave the way for improved ties, he added.
He said that the public and the business community across the country are looking forward to seeing the positive results of the Afghan leadership’s assurances. If this happens, relations between the two countries will improve, billions of rupees will be saved in terms of security, and the people will breathe a sigh of relief.
He furthered that the business conditions of people involved in border trade will improve, and both governments will be able to serve the masses and improve their image internationally.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that to remove misunderstandings between the two countries, other scholars also need to come forward to ensure peace and stability in the region, without which neither the relations between the two countries nor the economies of the two countries can be ideal.
He stressed that the pace of development can be accelerated with enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that Pakistan’s economy is slowly improving but still very weak and not able to withstand shocks. Yet, some politicians are diligently engaged in efforts to create political chaos, which shows that for them nothing is more important than politics and power.
Some influential people have tried to gain fame by making petrol and electricity cheaper, while others destroyed the economy in an attempt to artificially strengthen the rupee.Â
Such politicians intend to fool the people instead of improving the economy, and such practices have shaken the foundations of the country.
