Punishment of two retired Generals involved in corruption is an unprecedented more which has greatly improved the image of Army and COAS Gen. Raheel Sharif, a business leader said Friday.

The bold decision of COAS to dispose of the case on fast track and swift conviction of the accused has met the demand of justice and peace which must be followed by other institutions, said President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain.

Generals have not only been punished but given due projection in the media which is manifestation of the fact that now justice is being delivered and will be delivered across the board, he said.

He has proved that if any wrong is done by those in uniform who were considered as holy cows, would be duly investigated, prosecuted and if proved given due punishment as no one is above the law, he added.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the ongoing actions and operations are not against any political party or segment of people but against those who breach the law which has earned respect for Army from across the country.

He also lauded Supreme Courts for establishment of the Military Courts as legal, paving the way for prosecution and execution of terrorists. The verdict has widely been hailed and exalted the image and prestige of the judiciary in the eyes of the people.

The majority judgement of the Supreme Court is also being viewed by politicians and Parliamentarians as confirmation of the supremacy of the Parliament.

The verdict has averted a clash among institutions and that all institutions of the State and stakeholders are on the same page as far as war against terrorism is concerned and that all of them want to eliminate terrorists and criminals.

Now, there is now no hindrance in the on-going process to cleanse the society of terrorists, militants and target killers, he said, adding that terrorism is mother of all evils and problems of the country and it is our collective responsibility to play our role in combating the menace.

The business leader said that we are passing through special circumstances, which need special measures to address the complicated situation. The executions are having deterrent effect and the crime graph is coming down. With the judicial approval of the military courts, the situation would surely improve further in weeks and months to come.
