President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Monday said Larkana’s rice is earning millions of dollars annually through exports and the city and Larkana is known for its quality production of guava and berry Larkana is surrounded by fertile land in which all kind crops, fruits and vegetables are cultivated in crop i.e. Rice, Wheat, Sugarcane, Barley, and Mustard. Handicrafts industry plays a pivotal role in the city’s exports figures.
The veteran business leader said Larkana can earn millions if its tourism department is furnished with the necessary requirements, like infrastructure, hotels, motels and other necessities required for tourists and visitors. Establishment of fruits preservation and processing can improve the existing trade potential of the city in term of production and exports. Traditional handicrafts are another potential lies in the city, which contribute to handsome extent of city’s economic and export activities.
The former minister said three mega projects announced by the former president of Pakistan and Co-Chairman of People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari for Larkana are still awaited. Sitting Sindh Government is required to take immediate steps for completing these projects. These projects include establishment of regional office of State Bank of Pakistan, a dry port and a tax free industrial zone. M-8 motorway under CPEC project is in process which will grant direct access to the city to connect to Gwader sea port.
Recommendations of Larkana chamber of commerce and industry should be taken into account so that problems of the city pertaining to trade and industry can be resolved and the city can take part effectively in the development of National economy in accordance to its true potential. Investors are encouraged to make new investments in tourism, fruit processing and handicrafts where huge potential of development lies in the city.
