President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Wednesday lauded the impartial role of Pakistan in the recent tensions that have gripped the Arab world.
Pakistan has kept itself from taking sides in the recent tensions for which the credit goes to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that Saudi Arabia is a very close friend; trade is flourishing, many Pakistanis are working there while country receives a sizable part of remittances from KSA.
On the other hand, Qatar is also a close friend, many people from Pakistan are working there and LNG is being imported from that country which is helping us to tame energy crisis.
Therefore, he said, it will be in the best interest of Pakistan to remain out of the conflict and try to resolve the issue through talks, he demanded.
He said that seven countries have severed diplomatic relations with Qatar on charges of supporting terrorists which has raised concerns among all the Islamic countries as it can destabilize the region.
Many countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Libya are facing civil war and terrorism and the recent developments can trigger conflicts adding to the unrest in the Muslim world.
The business leader said that Pakistan should follow balanced policy and join hands with Turkey and Kuwait to defuse tensions and initiate negotiations before it is too late.
