Mian Zahid Hussain said that Shahbaz Sharif has included all the stakeholders in the commission including representatives of government, private sector, associations of farmers, millers, academicians and entrepreneurs representing agro-based industries which is laudable.

The commission has all the ingredients to boost agriculture and it is moving in right direction as it has preferred to make a provincial agriculture policy and benefit small farmers.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the commission will help resolve many outstanding issues of farming community which will pave way for the development of country as our economy is linked to agriculture.

He said that government should consider including researchers in the commission which can play an important role in increasing per acre yield which will bring cost down, reduce threat of food insecurity and malnutrition and improve lives of farmers.

The commission should also focus on finding additional ways and means to improving standard of living of farmers which will reduce poverty as seventy percent of world’s poor are linked to rural economy, he demanded.
