President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Monday said Chakwal produces various agriculture commodities like groundnut, canola, mustard (edible oil), olive, honey, tunnel vegetables and livestock. Main industrial concerns are comprised of embroidery, stitching, khussa making, wood work, clay utensils, clay toys, dyeing, metal works, silver and gold ornaments, and fireworks.

Mian Zahid Hussain said huge investment opportunities are available in different sectors including Bed Sheets, Ceramic Tableware, Cold Storage, Dairy Products, Electrical Accessories, and Gypsum Processing, Leather Products and Patristic products. The universities, business community and influential figures should work together for the betterment of trade and industry of the City.

The veteran business leader while talking to the business community said About 500 acres of barren land in the area was identified as the most suitable place for the industrial zone as it was very cheap and provided easy access as well. CPEC would initiate more trade and investment activities in the region and in this scenario a new industrial zone is of paramount importance. Chakwal is known for its finest human resource across the country, he added. Three universities are there which indicates better educational ratio.

The former minister said Chakwal and its outskirts withholds beautiful environment, Dazzling sceneries, Wonderful historic and prehistoric spots and Museums. Pakistan’s first fossil museum but the mainstay of tourist attraction is the Kallar Kahar Lake that lies in the heart of the valley. Other attraction spots are Bagh e sufa, Takht e Babri, the famous shrines and other gardens and mountain ranges. The castle of Katas Raj and the pond of tears is a very sacred place for Hindu and Sikh community. On top of the castle is World’s tallest temple of Shiva and there are 8 Hindu temples and many Sikh temples surrounding the castle. Government should pay attention to promote tourism in the City which will not only benefit the local population but will increase foreign exchequer.
