Jhang will be connected to bigger markets of Faisalabad and Khanewal with the under construction M-4 and M-5 Motorways under CPEC. Wools, carpet, furniture and handicrafts industries should be developed in Jhang. Effective marketing is needed for investment in Jhang Small and medium industries.

President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Friday said Jhang is amongst the most prominent producers of dates in Punjab and having a reasonable share in country’s exports of dates from Punjab. Cotton, Oil and small level enterprises dealing in wooden crafts have good prospects for exports. There are more than 200 units of trade and industry in the city. Industries include Sugar in addition to wool and jute rugs, carpets, furniture, handicrafts, handmade embroidery, marbles, bed sheets and hosiery.

Mian Zahid Hussain said the agriculture products of Jhang include wheat, cotton, rice, sugarcane, fruits, and vegetables. Livestock and poultry are also raised in large numbers in the district. Under CPEC M-4 and M-5 Motorways are in process, which will give faster access to Jhang’s products to bigger markets of Faisalabad and Khanewal respectively. Local administration of Jhang is trying to establish industrial and economic zones in Jhang will further improve the economic condition of the city in addition to better employment opportunities.

The veteran business leader said that there is no proper solid waste management system in the city in the city causing increase pollution. The influential political figures of the city and commissioner Jhang should take this into account so that the dream of developed Jhang comes true and new investors may be attracted in the city. There is acute need for establishment of small to medium sized industries to provide a sound base to the industrial development of the area, for which Government should take an immediate action which will add more economic value to the city.

The former minister said investors can avail financial assistance provided by Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC), Commercial Banks and other Investment and leasing companies offered to skilled youth, prospective entrepreneurs, craftsmen and industrialists. Jhang chamber of commerce and industry should play part in the economic development of the city. Mian Zahid Hussain offered unconditional PBIF support to Jhang chamber for all sort of assistance required for the economic development of the city.
