Former President FPCCI Senator Haji Ghulam Ali and President PBIF, President All Karachi Industrial Alliance and First Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI Mian Zahid Hussain on Tuesday said Business Community fully supports Government’s decision to lay another gas pipe line from Turkmenistan to Gwadar to convert it into LNG.

They asked the government to prefer Russia for $12 billion project as it is already working on Karachi-Lahore LNG pipeline and inclined to invest heavily in Pakistan.

We welcome groundbreaking of TAPI gas pipeline twenty-five years after inception which will reduce current gas shortfall by 25 percent, said Senator Haji Ghulam Ali & Mian Zahid Hussain.

They further said that US has imposed sanction on sale of Iranian gas but it has not imposed any restriction on Pakistan to complete its part of the pipeline which must be expedited as sanctions on Iran can be lifted anytime.

Senator Haji Ghulam Ali & Mian Zahid Hussain said that gas pipeline are not only about bridging energy shortages, rather it would unleash peace and prosperity by increasing interdependence.

They lauded the Nawaz Administration for initiating work on $10 billion 1814 km pipeline which will also help Pakistan earn upto $250 million as transit fee.

The business leaders said that like security financing TAPI is a challenge for which all four countries should try to lure foreign investors immediately.
